Upon pouring there is mostly toasty oak on the nose with notes of espresso, white pepper, anise, dark cherry, and some meaty/gamey qualities as well. Medium body, medium tannin, medium acidity. This strikes me as a classic Aussie Shiraz. Not a ripe fruit bomb. There’s plenty of brightness that leads through the back end to keep this taught. Thinking this will release a bit more in the future but it’s certainly not a big bold rendition of the varietal. Great now and better in 3+ years.

Barossa be consumed 2022 (Brisbane): Deep fruited perfumed with some nuttiness. Crushed ants. Not as overt as blonde; more refined. But beautiful. Long delicate finish. Buy.
