A strong reductive note on the nose. On the palate it’s silky with a medium+ body, medium acidity, sweet white fruit and decent length. I would have guessed the alcohol at 13% but it says 12% on the bottle. It’s not a very fresh wine but quite nice nonetheless.

Distinct cat food reduction on the nose, big shame because behind that there is clearly a seaside, citrus peel driven nose. On the palate completely all over the place, massive astringency and gross high alcohol, rubbery, gin-like finish. Not drinkable unfortunately - normally if a wine isn’t up to scratch I’ll still drink it but this was just not nice at all. Tried decanting, but no dice.
Big shame - was really looking forward to this. Clearly the fruit had big potential but something is not right here.
Maybe it’s bottle variation, but I wouldn’t risk buying again. If you have already bought a bottle I guess just hold it and live in hope? But I’m unsure much will improve, the reduction might integrate but don’t think that finish will…

My experiences with Muscadet are very few, so I only have a hazy view of what I should expect when drinking one. Certainly minerality is something I expect and this had a lot of it, a salty and sea breezy feel to it. Roundness from the extended lees-aging, felt almost oaky in the texture despite never having been near any oak. Yellow apples, pear, lemon with a bit of zesty twang. White peach and a bit of a grassy note. Seems a bit lacking in acidity, so despite only 12% I felt I could taste the alcohol a bit. A well made wine for sure, but I’m a bit ho-hum on it. My feeling is I could have gotten more for my 24 euros from Riesling or Chablis or some other volcanic wine maybe out of Teneriffa or Etna. Perhaps a few years in bottle might make it come together a bit better.

the wine seemed off. no perceptible TCA on the nose but a perception on the palate that something was not right.
