P&P; surprised at how muted this bottle was compared to other vintages. Might still be in bottle shock, or maybe my palate is off from earlier beers. Hard to say. Flavors of black cherry, hints of sage and bramble, tobacco and dark chocolate. I feel this will improve with additional bottle age. Drink now (maybe decant??) - 2034.

Sourced from five different Walla Walla vineyards, Amavi's 2019 Estate Cab is a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Malbec, 7% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Ordered from a restaurant's wine list, the bottle was popped, poured and serially tasted over 90 minutes. Opaque crimson in color, it flaunts an immediately intense aromatic profile of black cherries, dark bramble fruits, blueberries, bittersweet chocolate, baking spices, tree bark and licorice. Full-bodied, low-to-medium in acidity, seamlessly alcoholic (14.5%), proportionately oaked and with plentiful polished tannins, it delivers flavors that confirm the aromas and is impressively dense in the middle. Concluding long and smooth, this is a terrific Cabernet that, by virtue of its soft textures, will have many fans. Another great showing for the Evergreen State! Drink now-2034.

Young and leesy with a touch of yogurt at first. But this is just the sheer youth of the wine. This begins to unfold into some nice tobacco and geranium leaf greenness followed by a nice sweet ripe raspberry / blackberry fruit.
Full of typicity and varietal character, the drink is very savory and not particularly jamming or juicy. The astringency is a little bracing for the tannins are wicked short right now. But I think this wine is packed full of the potential for goodness and should mellow down into a very proper value play.
Best from 2024 forward.
