HUGE caveat here that it really, really needs a cellar nap. I have no problem with opening great wines super young, but although there's beauty here for sure, it's pretty austere and challenging right now, with a lot of lurking complexity that will need /at least/ 5 years to unfurl and command the high price.
Pretty closed on the nose with a large dose of pyrazines, those dark green tones of bell pepper/coffee grounds/dark cacao giving it away as ~50% Cab Franc. It's great that it's true to the grape's style, but I'm very sensitive to pyrazines and here they were almost overwhelming the fruit. Still, got some good fruit with dried black cherry and plum- not really dense/powerful nor super fresh and vibrant, more of a very earthy expression with some ripeness but more about the earthy, steely vibe.
Lots of coarse, gritty tannin on the palate, some beautiful fruit and touches of baking spice too, just pretty tight and very structured.
It reaaallllly reminds me of Bordeaux, complete with the difficulty of drinking at a very early stage. But after a cellar nap, it'll really be a gorgeous, serious, cerebral blend that can show its earthy complexity in a more complete and expressive way.
