Howard Ripley portfolio tasting: Really liked this producer, which offers great value in the context of quality Pinot Noir. Very Burgundian nose - cool, angular and fresh. A great sense of restraint here - the oak is subtly framing tart red fruit. A sense of saturation on the palate, smooth but cool and well-defined. Not that I know anything about Burgundy but I'd have confidently called this Premier Cru quality

PnP. A blend of fruit from La Colina, Bella Vida, and Abbey Ridge (all in Dundee Hills AVA). Although this is the first vintage of his new label, Jay's been working with fruit from these vineyards for many years (while at Jay Christopher and Cameron). This is really classic Dundee Hills. Bright red fruit, cherries, raspberry, strawberry, with supporting notes of pie spice and earth. Really intense nose, beautiful perfumed fruit. Palate is equally as intense, but the wine remains very elegant. Medium body, medium acidity, well integrated tannins in the finish. This is drinking well now, but will hold and likely improve with several years of bottle age. Drink now through 2029. Great wine from an experienced and incredibly talented wine maker who really knows these vineyards.
