This was very, very nice. I get a lot of red cherry and raspberry up front, followed by a little spice and medium acidity. The body is quite light - perhaps medium-minus. Great with food.

Opened yesterday, good cork, and went after this pinot younger than I usually do. It is pale ruby and a light but present bouquet. It's nice but light fruit profile with medium acidity. Tannins are medium also and not prominent. Overall impression, a nice pinot, not overly fruit forward, and as a result transparent to soil and barrel aging. Not clear if further aging would improve, and skeptical it will. Still decent though and fruit did deepen next day.

Too much? I would have thought so too, but then I tried today’s wine. Although not one to linger on Pinot Noirs in general, I have gained much respect for this sometimes over-used and somewhat abused grape.
Too much of this or that, especially in the fruit category predominates many wines. Too many Pinots can be fruit bombs. Not that I don’t like fruit as part of any wine (grapes are fruit after all), but too much and if it weren’t for the alcohol, it would be like drinking grape juice.
Not so with this wine:
Fel Pinot Noir Anderson Valley 2019
It’s not surprising that this wine evokes quality, it is, after all, a part of the Cliff Lede Family of Wines sourced from the premier sites of Ferrington and Wendling vineyards along with their own estate vineyard of Savoy in Anderson Valley.
100% Pinot Noir, sustainably grown from those vineyards that span from both areas nearer the ocean to further inland giving the wine its richness and nuances. Add to that, the wine is aged for 16 months in French Oak, 38% being new, and this is the wine you get.
A very well-balanced wine with notes of dark cherry which is predominant along with nice acidity and a slight rustic element that melds together to make this wine a keeper. Just delicious!
Keep this wine in mind should you be on the hunt for a great Pinot; it’s easy to remember because it Fel(l) from Heaven.
Cheers

Sort of a severe, savory serious tasting pinot. The fruit opened up nicely (a day later!!)

Reminds me of the Sojourn Sonoma Coast Pinot a bit. Nice.
