Shows the wood initially. Not very powerful or overtly new wood. It's just there and by the label it spent a good deal of time in barrels. Nice fresh ripe fruit. Somewhat characteristic of the better Zin blends without a lot of depth. Night two sees better integration. The fruit is also a bit more powerful and the Zin speaks louder. The underlying acidity is nice. Next to no tannin. This doesn't reach the heights of the very good '16 version but this is pretty good itself. A nicely focused almost lean feeling wine. The two varieties have melded strongly already. I'd give this a bit more rest but no need for real aging. Good for the medium term. Hoping this bottling is going to be a regular addition to the ATP series. Looking very forward to trying the '18.

Jammy and hot on the first sip. Mellowed nicely after an hour or so. Tasty.

Bright red fruit, a little damp cellar, dry herbs.
