First sampling of the Moulds, and a decade since I last tasted tasted Les Behrens' handling of this fruit
Jet black throughout. After an hour in the decanter there's tons of rich black and dark blue fruit along w coffee bean on the nose. As noted elsewhere this is surprisingly approachable given its depth and darkness.
The fruit is even darker on the palate and while overpowered by coffee and is less approachable than the nose would indicate, it's certainly not too tight to enjoy. However it will clearly benefit from another year or three of rest, or more time in the decanter if i we hold back.
Notably less extracted than many of Mike's wines, I like the balance here and can easily see this adding a point or two in the coming years.
UPDATE: gassed off the last 1/4 of the bottle. The next day the fruit is more extracted and jammy, and has more alcohol on the finish. Tannins have softened but its still a solid quaff

Ooh this was good. Very extracted and concentrated, but it carefully avoids jamminess and finds balance between the dark fruit and the finish. Decanted for two hours, surprisingly approachable despite the youth. Smooth tannins, meaty, bit of licorice on the second day.

Nose reminded me of 1992 Etude Napa Cabernet. Palate showing darker fruit than that wine, lots of plum and black currant.
