  Very deeply colored with an instant sex appeal, the Rasa Principia is definitely in its zone. The nose centers on red plums and raspberry compote with hints of spice and leather. Tart but balanced, intense fruit, very polished tannins, long finish fades to a distinctive cocoa note. Could merit an even higher score down the road!

  Ran through the Menu decanter and back into the bottle; poured through a pewter elk head aerator. This wine is SINGING! The aroma wafts out of the glass and you can smell it across the room. Oaky vanilla with raspberry fruit, cigar and earth, all of which follow through to the palate. Outstanding wine, and extremely glad I have another in the cellar! Drink now with air - 2036.

  The 2016 Principia is ripe, powerful, and concentrated. Dense, dark purple color with bouquet of ripe blackberry, black plum, tar, bacon fat, smoked game, violet, smoldering incense, and garrigue. The palate is both powerful and graceful. Well delineated palate flavors of blackberry, huckleberry, bacon fat, black pepper, aged cigar tobacco, leather, garrigue, black olive, espresso, and dark chocolate. The exquisite finish resonates with savory notes of truffle, violet, bacon fat, and cigar tobacco. Perfectly balanced with slightly dusty tannins and lively acidity. This wine will continue to improve for the next 8-10 years and should drink well for the next 20+ years.
