Inky-purple in color, nose shows black fruit, smoke and almost a hint of coal tar. Palate explosive with blackberry, cassis, loamy notes and spice, and a mouthwatering explosion of sweet acidic structure framed with integrated and equally sweet tannins, leading to a finish that sails on for minutes. Bracing, impressive but never overwhelming, with the best example of the varietal we've encountered. Drink now, it's terrific.

slight floral notes on the nose with some blackberry and a very small hint of green bell pepper- dark fruit continued on taste and was very smooth- tannins were round and finish nice- fell apart after about 60 minutes-

Interesting, dark plum color, nose of cassis and minerals, taste of blue/blackberries, medium finish, very firm tannins, could probably use another year or two of bottle age.

I am not a fan of PV as a varietal wine. I had this on night 2 as the wife opened it the night before. Huge nose of black fruits, licorice and black currant. Palate was full, juicy and lush. More licorice, blackberry crushed violet. Tannins were smooth and fine, finish was medium. Gotta admit, I'm impressed. Maybe my palate is evolving or this vintage is better than last year, but it was yummy (at least on night 2!) 15% alcohol
