Powerfully fruit forward as noted below. Blackberry. Dark plum vamila predominate.l. Not complex. Not evolving into spice or tobacco or anything else. But sometimes you just want a beautiful balanced fruit explosion. Like an adult sweet tart.

Decanted for two hours prior to consuming. Dark fruits, dill and vanilla on the nose. In typical Paso Robles cab fashion, this is very fruit forward. It lacks the length and complexity you would expect for the price point. Overall, I’m not convinced it is worth the premium over their regular cab.

Nose: dill, vanilla, blueberry jam, cassis, anise, blackberry, oak, milk chocolate, espresso, Chinese spiced hawthorn, some clove.
Palate: medium acid, medium plus tannins which are smooth and powdery. The 15% alcohol is well hidden, maybe detected as a bit of heat. Dry but sweetness from the fruit, maybe a bit more RS than old world style cabs. There is some of the dill, vanilla, clove, chocolate. The fruit is the most prominent flavor here, as described above. More tertiary flavors aren’t here yet for me, but I don’t find it hard to believe that they will come with time. Has some qualities of that California jammy cab, but is a little more subtle and complex than lesser versions. I will open again 3-5 years and go from there. Well structured for long cellar potential, and I think will develop for another 20+ years.
Long story short: I got a great deal on this wine, so for me the QPR was fantastic. If this is your style, it is a well made wine and tastes great, so the price is probably decent. For me, I wouldn’t get another bottle at over $100.
