2015 Gratavinum Priorat GV5 (15%, blend of 85% Carignan and 15% Grenache, 14 months in new French and Hungarian barrels, 5 hours decanting before the initial sip). A pool of opaque, ruby red on the eye…beguiling. Aromas of cherries and raspberries on the nose with a touch of toasted almonds…pleasantly woody. Velvety, cherry and liquorice tannins, intense acidity, long palate-clinging finish…rich. A wine worthy to sip for many years to come. The Cusine family of Pares Balta Penedes fame continues to impress…even in Priorat.

Priorat wine fair 2019 (and related events); 5/2/2019-5/9/2019 (Tarragona and various places in Priorat): After the 2018 vintage of GV5 we got to taste the 2015 of the same. Real class here. Much rounder and more mature than the 2018. Dark fruits, minerals and liquorice. Very nice.
