Took this on our annual Labor Day camping trip with 50 families. Our little cohort of 20+ decided this year to roast a pig. I secured a 20lb pig in Grantsville, Utah, and we lovingly prepared amazing oak into the perfect temperature of coals and roasted it for 4+ hours. If you have not had a whole pig roasted over a fire, you're missing out. Anyway, what goes with Pig? Pinot. This was a silky smooth and wonderful wine to pair with our pig. My friend who grew up in the Philippines taught us about all of the deliciousness that can be found in the pig's head, and let's just say, the head is the best part. A great match. Pig & Pinot!!

Dark and concentrated with mulch and forest floor aromas. Earthier than many OR Pinots, with ripe black fruits, herbs, and a hint of mocha balanced by decent acidity and moderate smooth tannins. Overall well-composed package with highish abv (14.4). Not our usual preferred style, but it worked well with a rustic farro/chickpea salad.
