Consistent with previous bottle. Solid chardonnay but oak comes through a bit more than I would like on the finish. I enjoyed it more at a slightly colder temperature.

Pale golden color. Nose of mixed orchard fruits with golden apple and pear, citrus, a bit of vanilla and toast. Similar flavors on the palate with ripe apple flavors and some oak notes coming. Creamy mouthfeel. Could use a touch more acidity for me but otherwise, a very solid Sonoma chardonnay. Might be some better options out there for the price though.

Failla's 2017 Estate Chardonnay is a limpid, medium golden wine with aromas and flavors of citrus, stone fruits, vanilla, butterscotch and honeysuckle. Medium-bodied and with fairly well-integrated alcohol (listed as 13.8%), it is somewhat lacking in vibrancy, giving the oak component the upper hand. Solid in the middle and medium-to-long on the back end, this is a Chardonnay that could benefit from a bit more acid and a bit less oak. While many may prefer this style, there are similar-styled offerings of equal quality that sell at a substantially lower price. Drink now-2024.
