Lerins Abbey is a Cistercian monastery on Saint-Honorat, a small Mediterranean island about two kilometres off the coast from Cannes. Production is small, thus the €35 price tag on the Saint-Honorat cuvee, made from 100% syrah. Plum and cherry notes but peppery; tannins still strong and a bit severe, with a medium-long finish. Interesting and quite alright, but if price is an over-riding factor, I'd likely reach for something else.
