Softening, quite good upon opening, not much more on second night. Strikes a nice balance of intensity, yet mid weight, still acidic. Long wavelength feel to it - easygoing, not tense, but harmonious.

Ruby red, translucent, pastille notes accentuating the red berry nose, medium-bodied and graceful, with a finish that keeps going. This is a wine that only improves as it opens, and I am both delighted to have savored it and sorely disappointed that this was our last 2016.

Clear dark red fruit, raspberry/strawberry nose with hints of spice , seamless balance on the palate, with minerality and depth blossoming over time. We are fortunate to have more of this to return to—it will be fascinating to try both the ‘16 and ‘17 over time. These folks know what they’re doing!

Tasted alongside the Ceritas Hellenthal, and while the flavor profiles are different, both wines are outstanding. The Trout Gulch is also elegant, a bit lighter than the Hellenthal, and practically twirls around the proverbial dance floor.
