  • This bottle showed much older and faded than my last tasting five years ago. Fruit was somewhat muted and overall acidic. Still help up very well considering it's approaching 20 years. For the most part, well past it's peak.

  • This wine, simply, blew my mind. I can’t recall the last time I had a 93 D2, a decade ago maybe? I found a stash of four bottles hiding in the bad of the cellar and figured, oh now, here are four more bottles past their prime. I could not have been more wrong. Purchased on release from the winery and buried in my cellar for over a decade. Medium light ruby in color, this certainly looks like its thirteen years old, my fear was that it has declined like many of the D2’s in the late nineties. Full nose of dark cherry syrup elements and cassis. Full in the mouth with a velvety texture and a thick syrupy presence. Medium length on the finish with completely resolved tannin and a firm but smooth finish at the end. This wine is drinking perfectly right now, but showing no signs of decline, this will go on for some years to come. Just amazing, the last D2 that I had that was this impressive was the 2001. Wow!
