Well with our good friends Michael and Leslie coming to dinner I decided to open a bottle of wine that neither one of us had ever tried. I opened it three hours prior to dinner and decanted two hours prior. This is a massive brooding wine with Dark fruit on the nose. The palate dark berries, tobacco, hints of graphite, chocolate and dried spice leading to a long lingering finish. A really good bottle of wine. Michael only wanted to give it a 95 but when he said it was one of the best bottles of wine he ever drank I changed it to 96. Considering he and I have shared the 1961 Mouton Rothschild and the 1970 Petrus that says a lot. We drank it alongside a 2015 Backus and a 2008 O'Shaugnhnessy and obviously this was the star of the evening.

Concentrated, fruit forward and performed with notes of blueberry, cassis, lavender and milk chocolate. Wonderfully complex and soft at the same time that needs at least an hour decant. Amazing long finish with hints of mocha and exotic spices…this is drinking very well right now.

Double D for one hour. The wine is big and bold, well made and concentrated with cherries and earthy notes but rather linear at this point.
94+ HOLD.

Took it to Cyrus. Lovely wine. Darn fruits bouquet, minimal rounded tannins. Fruit forward. Long finish.
