Fairly purple core. Lovely nose of field berries and baking spice, the oak blending seamlessly into the background. Essentially dry, with balanced acidity and a modest amount of soft tannins, translating into a refreshing mix of leafiness and dark chocolate on the finish. There is a restrained, zen-like balance among the acidity, fruit and spice (black licorice, soy) that just makes this really pleasant to drink. The fruit (boysenberry, blackberry, raspberry) is honest and pure, and shines in the finished product . Imagine a smoothie of fresh berries, dutch process cocoa, a hint of sugar and just the right amount of spice. Very nice indeed.

Surprisingly good. Only three and a half years in the bottle. Pleasant multidimensional fruit, smooth, drinking well. Top half of Ridge zins.

Still drinking well. Pop and pour. Moderate tannins. I bet it can handle another year of good drinking.
