Too much toasted oak, in my opinion, which gives the wine a burnt and bitter seasoning. But after an hour, the oak evolves into Christmas spices, making the wine more palatable.

Opened and poured. Dark purplish red. Lots of oak, sweet tobacco, cinnamon, clove, confected strawberry sauce. Quite sweet and confected jammy flavor profile. Medium bodied, ultra-ripe raspberry, toasty oak notes, with some madierized secondaries such as plum and fermenting wild berries. Certainly holding ground. Very sweet. Last bottle of two. Noting Siduri was just sold, I am hoping their efforts and offerings are not changed or spoiled by the conglomeration.

14.9% alcohol. Red cherry color. Very pretty nose of black cherry, baking spice, and minerals. In the mouth, surprisingly elegant, with delicious black cherry fruit that's complemented by a streak of earth and baking spice. Smooth palate presence. No heat on the finish. I'm surprise how beautifully this has aged. A-

Sunday, July 08, 2012 - PnP (two nights, notes pertain to 2nd). Deep red-violet color. Nose features cherries, dark berries, musk, stems, spice and etoh. Round fruit with layered flavors of some length. Not much acidity, soft tannins and the etoh, while noticeable, is not intrusive. Many positive aspects to this wine and is easy to enjoy if those are focused on.
