This is an unapologetic big new world wine. A little too dominated by the high alcohol and ripe fruit.it is very fruit forward with a decent amount of new oak that provides the creamy finish. Almost too overripe - I find it interesting that the wine maker is from France and yet the wine has none of the restraint found in most European wines. If you like big over the top wines this is for you. I will wait a year or two and see if this evolves

Tasted at the tasting room and tried side by side with their other portfolio wines. This wine is 69% syrah and 31% Old Grenache. Oh my, this wine is so velvety and smooth on the initial palate and suddenly you are drawn into the huge structure and long lingering finish. A beautiful wine that you will like immediatley but will also curious to see what it will be like in 10+ year.

Up the PCH; 6/4/2019-6/16/2019 (Santa Barbara, Santa Ynez, Paso Robles, Napa, and Willamette): 69% Syrah McVey Block, 31% Old Grenache Block (planted in 2004).
14 months in 40% new french oak, 60% 1 year old french oak.
Nice blend, crushing/bruising. A step above Cote a Cote, with a meaty grip/tannic finish. Could use a year or two, but doesn't hurt to open now.
