  While cooking dinner I had a i/2 glass through the Coravin. At 21 years old this wine is really good. Much better than the bottle I had ten years ago. The nose is all fruit leading to a palate of berries, plums, tobacco and earth. The finish is moderate to long. All of you trackers who waited to open this wine, you will be rewarded. i will open the bottle next week sometime and report back. For tonight's dinner the wine of choice will be the 2016 Quilceda Creek. Happy Saturday evernyone.

  Decanted through a vinturi for an hour and a half. At first taste the tannins were harsh but within the hour or so they softened which allowed the palate to be dominated by dark fruit, tobacco and barnyard flavors. The finish was nice but fell just a little short of the excellent category.

  really a quite beautiful wine. a nose that is what i would always like, the palate is fruity, maybe a touch of spicy, the tannins are finely submerged. its only real detraction is it seems hollow on the midpalate- a little off balance. but it went quite nicely with the steak au poivre. counter balancing the pepper. decanted two hours.

  Concentrated cassis, cherry, licorice, and dark chocolate on the nose. Good structure and balance that shows it will age nicely. Disappears on the mid-palate though. OK finish. Perhaps this needs some time in the bottle to evolve but overall I was disappointed after such a rich nose. Still a very nice wine.
