  Classic old notes. Cherry liqueur. Took 45 min for funk to blow off. Enjoyed with white truffle pasta.

  Charity Wine Tasting benefitting Brigid Collins Family Support Center: This was better than the 1970 Rioja GR, but still still a bit too faded. Decanted for about 7 hours. Translucent tawny with a little garnet color remaining. Mostly tertiary with some sweet fruit. Tannins nearly completely resolved, although one could find a trace of drying on the back of the teeth. A little cinnamon, cranberry, truffle. When paired with tagliolini with fresh perigord winter truffles, Parmigiano Reggiano and more butter and olive oil than I care to admit, the wine went from undistinguished to gratifying. Nonetheless, I've had much better examples of Piemdonte nebbiolo from 1971.

  Robe vermillon d'intensité moyennement pâle.
  
  Nez principalement sur les aromes tertiaires : fumé, caramel, café, cèdre, goudron léger, cassis léger, prune léger.
  
  La bouche est étonnamment d'une belle fraicheur et enrobe bien le palais. Les tannins sont savoureux et la longueur est encore appréciable.
  
  Pour une cuvée de déjà 50 ans, c'est une belle surprise et découverte.
