The Portland Crew with Tooch (Kirk's Place): It's not every day you get to taste a true crapshot of a wine. Older than I am, from a dead appellation (or at least, one that no longer makes red wine), this could have been horribly over-the-hill. But it wasn't.
Dark brown in the glass. A dark, sweet, dignified nose, with milk chocolate hints - strongly resembling banyuls. Beautiful balance of sweetness and refined acidity, with fresh(!) fruit and chocolate on the palate. Similar to Trader Joe's chocolate-covered figs stuffed with port-infused chocolate. Gorgeous. 88-91.

Wine in Portland (Maine) (Portland, Maine): Enjoyed this wine very much. Nose had raisins, wet pennies, violets, with some molasses. The palate was fresh and had mature red fruit, slight tobacco tones, raisins, and lots of florals. Such a fun wine to sip - big thanks to Doug for bringing this bottle along.

Color: Tawny Smell: creme, coco, caramel, rasins Taste: Rasins, cacao, vanilla bean, and faint hints of dried red fruits. Overall: Still holding it's own and a wonderful wine to refrence the past...quite the experience.
