Second of 2 went down tonight and getting more plum and some tart. A brambly red funky raspberry fruit front comes a black fruited, tart, plum-rich purple and nitrogenous tobacco and tar rich finish. I said six months ago (more or less) than that this would hold 5-7 years and still believe that, but this one after 1hr was developing some secondary notes, so if you're expecting youthful notes then you either need to drink these up or trade them off for something a little more current! Delicious with stuffed chicken poblano peppers.

A bit of age to this wine. Nose of dark black fruit, tar, tobacco. Entry has a lot of earthy, brambly black cherry fruit, roasted figs and dates on the nose and palate with a lot of good acidity that went perfect with cranberries, spiced apples, sweet potato casserole and cherry pie. Finishes with a softer tannic character but a hint of aged fruit is definitely here and complemented the food incredibly well. I think these can hold another 5-7 years but they are in the wheelhouse IMO right now.

Such an exotic nose upon opening. Very fragrant and lively with exotic spices, menthol, herbs, and dark fruits. With lots of air it mellows out a bit and opens more toward tobacco and dark fruits with lighter hints of baking spice and mint. I have always loved Ridge’s parcel designate merlots. Such character from such a bastardized varietal! This has plenty of time to live in the cellar.

Soft aroma of blueberries, violets, redwood, anise, a slight vinegary note (volatile acid?). Tart entry on the palate with rich concentration of fruit at the back, gritty tannins, and a lingering acid finish. Some nice elements, waiting to come together. 50 + 16 + 16 + 7 = 89.
