bright ruby with no signs of ageing and light body. cherries and raspberries dominate a nose that has hints of sappy herbs. sour cherry, cranberry and some blood orange are the dominant fruit flavour in an acidity-driven palate. a subtle vein of puerh tea provides base flavours, its modicum of complexity, and all that is left of tannins. moderate length with some fresh raspberry sweetness.
better on the second day with mellowed acidity that allows a bit more depth to show. no structure left to resolve, and fading fruit… so no use in holding. drink up!
13% AbV; appellation-level blend from fog-influenced vineyards: 53% Red Car Estate (Ft. Ross/Seaview area)/ 18% Zephyr Farms/ 14% Platt/ 10% Bohemian Station/ 5% Hagan (all those in the Freestone/Occidental area); aged around eleven months in 7% new French oak.

Forward, happy and charming. Fairly soft and kind of sweet, but with enough acidity to keep things in check. Requires less contemplation than some other Red Car offerings but no less worthwhile for it.

This Pinot is in the more astringent style (think Harvest Moon) but I liked that it stayed 'racy' despite the high acid. It wasn't sweet but the red fruit played nicely and with some duration. Great with food of various sorts, and very 'stylish' with its own take. My first exposure to Red Car (seems to have quite a following) was pretty good all in all.

Love this wine. Pretty, cherry nose and attack. Good lift. Some baking spice. Well-integrated. This is so easy to drink. Great value.
