I am a real fan of WW merlot. I think it is some of the best out there. I have also had this bottling many a time. But even after a 3 hour decant, the tannins in this wine just overwhelmed. Wine that is not balanced going into the bottle does not come out balanced. This wine needed some egg whites prior to bottling.

drank this bottle among a lineup of merlots as part of a blind tasting, and my notes (prior to knowing the underlying bottle) were: darkest color so far, big, dense, burly, monolithic, etc
in hindsight, this definitely was not the right choice to "pop and pour" and it would've benefitted from being decanted. user error, not the wine's fault. ☺

Very nice merlot from a trip to Walla Walla in 2018. Pours an orange-brownish-purple showing very slight rim variation. Nose of cassis, some stone fruit, white and black pepper, vanilla, oak. Great acidity, moderate tannins, full bodied, long long finish. Drank with spicy pork tamales, but would be great with a steak or prime rib. Nice complement to spice and fat in the tamales.

Elegant and super smooth mouth feel. Lots of dark cherry, some fig and peppery notes. In a great spot.

Great wine after a 2 hour decant. I still think Walla Walla grows some of the best Merlot out there.
