Cork was lightly depressed and crumbled on removal. Color: a brownish maroon. Musty, old nose. On the palate, notes of the canned cherries my grandmother loved when I was a kid plus spent coffee grounds. Root beer, another childhood favorite, on the finish. No freshness whatsoever but it had astonishing acidity for it's age. Enough, in fact, for us to enjoy the entire bottle.

Drank for a special occasiion and was quite good. You would think that a 2002 Pinot noir was getting close to peak, but this one will hold on for several more years. Big and rich for a Pinot yet smooth and peppery all at the same time. Great finish!

not corked or flawed but pretty much over and done with -- should have popped this one three year ago.
