Mm mmm! Super from the getgo. But from advice from prior note I gave it 90 minutes of air, which softened it a bit and eased up the over the top fruit density. Still youthful but so good, I feel great to drink now. Have yet to finish the bottle so I may come back and change rec if it evolves into something even better. Basically I'm saying little risk in holding or giving it more air.

Slow ox for a few hours then had it with loved ones over med rare straps, mashed potatoes and green beans. Really good.
Nose had bacon, licorice, tobacco, and dark stewed fruit. Palate had waves of black fruits that seemed quite ripe but none of that stewedness.
Complexity grew with time. Last sip was the best. Bet it would benefit from more air. Next time give it a good hour or two in the decanter. Or hold in bottle. Plenty of time on this.

This is a seriously good syrah! This reminds me of a Northern Rhone wine. This has body yet glassy and light as a feather. The fruit is dry but deep and tasty. Tons of complexity as there are more flavors than I can articulate - coffee, cocoa, bacon fat, leather, earthiness... A smooth yet lively finish. Quite a treat!

I sampled this wine over two days and believe it's one of the best California based Syrah's I've ever had with so much potential in the future. The bouquet mimicked a Northern Rhone Syrah, which was a pleasant surprise. Plenty of rich red fruit, leather, some smoked meat and earthy notes without the garden hose overtones you can get in lesser quality Syrah's from France. Overall, this is elegant and yet bold wine with lots of fruit, pencil lead, leather, bacon and earth notes. Nicely balanced with fresh acidity and fine grain tannins. The finish was long and exceedingly good. Great acidity and balance. In 5-10 years this wine will be epic, but it's certainly worthy of a robust ribeye right now.

Pop and pour. Lovely, balanced lighter-style Sonoma Syrah with the advertised bouquet garni, buoyant acid, fine tannins. With air it picked up a touch of dark earth. Luc Morlet really knows how to make good wine.
