d'Arenberg with Chester Osborn (Strand Cellars, Croydon): A little honey, toast, butter, cream, very slight bacon fat, green notes as well. A certain underpin, melon, spiced notes and plentiful texture on the palate, fruit a little muted, shows melon. A little flat for me.

Just that little fuller in the mouth than The Olive Grove, which is one rung in the ladder, price-wise in the D’Arenberg Chardonnay range, below this. If you like that style then the price premium is just about worth it.

Tangy, taunt, even tight as a 4yr old but perhaps to small fault. A little nutty and some minor matchstick. Consumed over 2 nights and softened on the 2nd but to be expected. Maybe a little underdone at 12.7%? I get the stylistic intent but pushed a little too far for the average punter?

This is still very much alive. Has mellowed a bit though in the tart apple category.

Bright yellow. Green apples and a soft nutty and slightly buttery nose. Tight, crisp palate. A very citrusy feel.
