This is I believe the 4th and last vintage that C.H. produced from Meteor Vineyard in Coombsville. Tasted the 2013 a month ago, and this 2014 just last night. With a few years in the bottle, these are drinking very well right now. They tend to be a bit lush early, then go through a dumb period, and seem to blossom again....more subtle with typical notes of licorice, blueberry, mineral, etc. Some briary and barrel notes waft in and out also. I forget exactly what I paid with their discounts, maybe $25-$28. Marketing suggests they would sell for triple that amount. I'm not certain of that, but IMO they compare favorably with many well known Napa Cabernet bottlings in the $30-$45 range. The 2013 showed more complexity at this point. I'd push that to 92 and raise price comparable a bit. I'll wait a few more years to finish off at least a few of the '13's and 14's remaining. I think still a little room.

Night one: Nice nose and loads of sweet black raspberry flavors. Long finish. Night two: Seems drier and crisper with black cherry flavors and moderate grip on the finish.

This needed an hour or two of air to really open up. My strongest impression is the silky mouth feel to this. There’s a really nice upfront aroma of black cherries and eucalyptus that is so profound. Flavors of smoke, black cherry, blackberry, and soft tannins. There is a sensation of decadence that you get to this wine that you just don’t get it with other entry level wines at this price point.

I liked it but wish I had waited a few more years to open as its still maturing.

Nice black cherry flavors with a full mouthfeel and pleasant finish. May be starting to fade a little?
