This was quite stunning, still fresh good structure even if thinned out a little with time--elegant with great concentration and balance; don't rmemeber the profile but tangy berry notes, some tertiaries, floral, very pretty, killer wine and perfectly aged. Bacari w/ gang for triple header b-day

First bottle flawed. Second bottle perfect. Lovely hints of red berries and so elegant that it left the blind tasting group in wrong directions. This is not the greatest Rotie vintage in general but Rostaing ws already sufficiently skilled in those days to make a great wine.

This is a nicely aged syrah, light on the palate, but with pleasant dark fruit, a little smoke and a good core of acid. Really opened up with food; roast duck, lush and sweet against the savory fat. I'd say it's time to drink but I enjoyed it now.

3/8/2020 - Lord of the Bottles Does not like this wine:
Acker Rene Rostaing Cote Rotie Retrospective (1978 - 2005) (NY): Powerful medicinal nose. Like turpentine. Mushroom taste. Way past prime though not undrinkable.

Very true to its origin and to the Rostaing style. Bright, transparent, classic coolish Syrah notes and very nicely balanced. Tannins well integrated.
