  • Wow this is drinking great. It has all that characteristics that make RRV pinot so appealing to me: baking spices, cola, fine mature tannins, light to medium bodied, a slight sweetness. The only weakness is the nose has some petroleum. And what a testament to the quality of Martinelli wines after 15 years. Bravo!

  • A suprising pinot - no amber at the edge of the glass and a reticent nose of cherry, spice, cinnamon and maybe cranberry - In the mouth very good intensity and a seemless expression of cherry liquer, spice, dusty tannins and good acidity with a very nice finish. The wine certainly is not in the feminine mode and on the other it is not over the top in the other direction - everything is in good balance. Day 2 - Went back to the half empty bottle - The nose is much more open and giving with cherry and cinnamon way in the forefront - In the mouth a much softer wine - maybe rounder is a better word as there is no real softness that some pinots have - the intensity of the day before has increased the cherry liquer taste by a factor of 2 and the tannins have receeded considerably and the finish is bigger, rounder and more complete without the tannic edge. This is probably the best Martinelli pinot I have had - day 2 - and I have had quite a few. Based on color, still ruby to the rim, fruit and tannin this wine still has a long life - Now a 94 !!!!

  • The nose is simply amazing: powerful and elegant at the same time: cinnamon, spice and Burlat.
Mouth is not as good as the nose but still this is a tremendous wine that needs to be drunk now or within this year. Medium body, you find again Burlat, spices, hint of game and a ittle sweetness on the mid palate. Finish is a little short but still very enjoyable.

  • Another similar experience with this wine. At first it seemed a bit tart and lean... but on the second day it started to blossom, on the third day it was even better. As it breathed, spicy aromas with a bit of oak and lots of red fruits. Complexity emerged as the days passed. I think I drank this wine way too young... must cellar those 95 reserves.

  • ruby red, fair amount of sediment, very strong nose of strawberry,
cherry, flowers, meaty, gamey, forest floor, with super concentration
