This is light red in colour. Almost translucent. Drop dead gorgeous nose of rose water, rose petals, cherry, very expressive and perfumed. Touch of rhubarb and fresh figs. With time in the glass, this mellows into something slightly more menthol but still very elegant and ethereal. Still lots of fruit on the palate. Dark cherries and a touch of strawberry. Some balsamic on the finish. Touch spicy on the palate. Super elegant and no heavy tannins anyway to be found. Label says 14.5%. I don’t get a big alcohol hit. Should age well, but when it’s this delicious why wait?

This bottle was absolutely amazing and a table favorite at an Italian wine dinner sitting next to a 2003 Sassicaia. Beautiful roses on the nose and in the mouth and velvet tannins. Double decanted about 2 hours before drinking.

Blinded this on a group. Showed very archetypal and classic Barolo. Someone said it could/should age much longer but it had been open 9 minutes and was already showy and sexy. Perfect cork.
Remarkable how this didn’t show any vintage weakness, much more like a 16, fully ripe and expressive with good medium to plus acidity. What was interesting is it showed absolutely no heat and a bit of chocolate flavoring, perfect for the late night blind it was asked to do. Good and lively, the tannins are pretty active but fairly rounded. Lengthy finish with good full breadth and resonance. Probably should’ve bought more of these.

wildddd aromatics on the first pour. That classic Barolo shoving all its goodness deeply up your nostrils. Mind numbingly sweet cherries, roses, bit smoke and a good dose of oak too.. after 20min, the oak schizos itself from the wine, and gradually dominates. Palate was lignite refined than the strength of the nose, quite fine actually, lots of air and elegance with plenty of dark red fruits, very pure and full of acid. I personally preferred the fresh pour.

Lifted gorgeous rich nose, yeasty at first, very pure red fruits, herbs (sage), pepper. Complex. Fresh and vigorous on the palate, great energy, purity of fruit, notably sappy. Power and elegance. Loads of tannin of course but all in balance. Fabulous!
