ABV: 14.3%. 49% Grenache, 45% Shiraz, & 6% Mourvedre. The nose explodes with rich, dark red fruits, surrounded by roasted herbs and a hint of garrigue. Plenty of fruit on the palate (think plums and raspberries), but the acid is still somewhat discombobulated and the tannins are still evident, which cuts off the finish. There's a lot of potential in this wine, but will need at least another 5 years in the cellar (or several hours of decanting before serving).
9/26/2022 - Not much has changed on day two. The tannins are still there so I'd say keep this one in your cellar and drink something else.
9/27/2022 - Raised the score by two points (from 91 to 93). Had about 1/3 of the bottle remaining so I thought I'd give it a final taste. The nose is now exhibiting more of the red fruits from the grenache, which is lush on the mid-palate. The tannins are finally starting to breakdown, but still noticeable. The acid is keeping this wine intact and lengthening the finish. This wine should be a great drink around the 15-20 year mark.
