  • Very, very cloudy. Obviously unfiltered but you get the sense of the color on the the palate. Its a little bit off putting to me. Onto the nose; lots of green olives and rosemary mixed with meyer lemon and sage. On the palate I get the thickness of the wine and lots of acid. There is decent lenght here but the wine seems a bit unbalanced due to the acid. Not much as far as tannins. I would guess some vines with low yields. I can see some really getting into this wine but to me its a little bit funky and not all that enjoyable.

  • 13.2% alc...holy shitzka, you never see that alc %, especially in Syrah, let alone Pinot!! This should be fun...looking mature on the rim, close to bricking...really intriguing nose of tar, smoky, beef jerky/salami and a earthy streak - but trust me, this doesn't even begin to describe all that is going on...palate shows medium in body, glorious acidity, smoke, and a outrageously long finish - all without being the least bit heavy. Most likely the most balanced Syrah I have EVER had from CA. Could be mistaken for northern Rhone in style. "Feels" cool climate, like these grapes had to struggle to get really ripe. Then again, I haven't seen this Que Syrah vineyard - it could be warmer than this wine shows. Great, great, memorable Syrah! ***** out of *****.
