(Mostly) Bordeaux 1975: Beautiful nose here, very different to the Pauillacs, more red fruited, less cigarbox, fruitier in general, with some nice minerality, herbs and lots of leather, the Graves terroir is evident here despite the age. On the palate this is slightly thin compared to the rest of the bunch (all 1975), but the balance here is terrific and the development in the glass quite spectacular. 17.5/20

During an evening of fine Bordeaux wines at Glasshouse in Kew - shame about the appalling sommelier service... so beware entrusting them with any special bottles...
Started off a bit lean and green. Then as the wine got a chance to breath it showed some very nice tobacco leaf, herbs, still a bit of green tomatoes. Not a flamboyant vintage, rather tight and classic. I liked it others liked it more at the table. I preferred the 86 HB alongside.

Bordeaux grape varietals cope much better with heat than Pinot Noir, and that can be observed through hot vintages such as 1976, 2003, 2018. Tasted blind – Bricking colour with slight cloudy sedimentation. Classic red berries, cassis, and savoury meaty and earthy notes. Smooth and resolved tannins with good ripeness. A good vintage from the 60s? Margaux? (84/100)

Light amber garnet, just a hint of red hue left. Light but lovely savory aromatics and nice balance Holding up remarkably well. Absolutely worth a try if the opportunity arises

Yves's Memorial; 11/10/2018-11/11/2018 (MO): A delightful elegant bdx. I've never seen such a perfect cork and fill on a wine from the '70's. Light, not particularly concentrated, but showing great aromatics and typicity. Cedar, flint, some smoke and spice.
