Foolishly went into the cellar without my glasses and grabbed this 2013. Service and notes similar to my note of 11-27-2023. The wine improved over the 2 hours after decant, but I really think a few more years will improve the wine. It was quite good presently, however.

One-hour decant through a screened and aerating funnel. Some sediment in the screen and on the sides of the bottle. During decant, powerful aromas of blackberries on the stem came forth. Wine was clear; dark crimson from bowl to rim with no sign of aging whatsoever with a moderate clear halo. After resting: blackberries, plums, vanilla and greenery were present in the nose. In the mouth: deep black fruit, moderate tannins and plenty of acid. This was a BIG wine. While I enjoyed it, I do disagree with those that think it is at its apex. This bottle, at least, was deserving of another five years on its side. I anticipate great things from my others then. Wine had a very long finish; a further testament to its likely longevity.

The 2013 Anderson’s Conn Valley C.S. is currently at its peak for enjoyment. We popped and poured and savored it alongside coq-au-vin and various dishes. The tannins have mellowed significantly, and the fruit has transitioned into a delightful secondary stage. This wine is harmoniously balanced and absolutely ready to be savored.

Decanted four hours, and it was only getting better as the night went along.
