Light purple in color, looks more like a glass of Pinot than a zinfandel. Despite the muted color, we noted no loss on the nose or palate from the prior bottle. Opened the bottle about 30 minutes before dinner. It needed at least that much slow ox time, as the flavor profile and complexity peaked about an hour after opening.

Slo-oxed for 30 minutes, but it continued to open for a while. So, a 20 to 30 minute decant may work better. The medium bodied palate showed some red fruits and a touch of spice, but had more acidity than needed to balance - indicating that the fruit may be fading. Also had a touch of heat on the finish - showing the 16.3% abv. Suggest everyone drink up. Not as enjoyable a wine as the 2011 vintage of the same, a bottle of which was enjoyed about 6 weeks ago.

Deep purple color, still vibrant, jammy with blackberry fruit notes. Will drink one remaining bottle in the next 18 months.

Though lighter in color than one would expect the body, fruit, spice and power surprise. Very nice zin from a wonderful producer.
