Being our first Morlet pinot noir and based on other notes had no idea what to expect. This baby and its mates have been cellared since direct purchase from the winery. Decanted two hours. As its flavor profile opened over time reminded me of Rochioli single vineyard selections from 00s-2010. If considered New World-style, count us in!

I could easily rate this 100. I had been keeping my last bottle in my own cellar since direct purchase from Morlet probably in 2015. This was absolutely perfect, needing about 40 minutes to completely open up. Brought to San Diego for my Mom's 85th birthday celebration we had it with Sea Bass, carrot and potato purée and asparagus. Just a perfectly balanced California Pinot Noir, red berries and sweet and sour candy were the dominant flavors, which is my favorite combination. Totally integrated.

This is a wine that definitely benefits from decanter time. Originally decanted for 30 minutes to the start of dinner, it was better than the first few sips after a PnP. There was some dark red fruit, spice, earth and slightly more acid than needed to balance. The second glass - after about 1 hour of decanter time - was even better as the wine darkened and the elements began to integrate. The last few sips - after more than 1.5 hours of decanter time - were definitely the best. The wine had become a dark violet color to a faded rim. On the medium to plus palate there was a mix of dark fruits, spice, touches of cocoa and earth, and just the right amount of acidity to balance this smooth and pleasing mouthful. This wine could hold for several more years but must have sufficient air to allow it to show its best.
