Nearly five years since my last bottle and this has come along well. Modern style; totally clean with no earth. Cherries (as expected) but also with cocoa, which is something I've never had in a Grenache before (that's a Cab Sav flavor for me.)
Full-bodied, dense, and with a long finish. Delicious.

Still a young wine - very young. Rich, creamy, generous, sweet, Grenache speaks loudly here, but so does Torbreck; it is precise, vibrant, world class precision. Loving it, wish I had more. CP took his sweet time guessing this one. #Kandestederne #C&S

2nd tasting of this pure Aussie Grenache from Torbreck vintage 2012
From more than 1800 rated wines on Vivino this is a top tier 3.
Delicious bouquet with black currant, liquorice, smoke, caramel and eucalyptus among other things.
Multiplayered palate with fine integration of both fruit, oak and aging notes. Balance is perfect with a med+ acidity contrasting fruit sweetness and alcohol and tannins playing secondary roles. Insanely long finish with a multitude of layers. Velvety mouthfeel. Pure pleasure.

Best red wine experience in 2019 for me so far. Varietal Grenache from Barossa winemaker Torbreck. 8d (cement) maceration followed by 24m in french barriques. Tertiary notes already overwhelm this wine. Cherry, prune, liquorice, wet stone and a sweety-mint like sensation (reminds me of "Tic-Tac"). Impressive tasting profile with a an acidic attack followed by soothing fruit sweetness of insanely complex character. Tannins play a supporting role. Long complex finish where acidity returns. Fantastic stuff!
