My last of 4 was dead. No sweetness left at all. Nose was pleasant, but that's where it stopped. Too bad. The first three were awesome. Not sure if it's a factor of age or just a bad bottle. Suggest anyone holding it give it a try now.

PHMG WAG: Ridge Vineyards (Monte Lyon): Whoa! What an oddball! Served with the triple crème Mt Tam cheese, this is an over the top wine with plenty of hibiscus, honeysuckle, lychee, tropical fruit, and spice flavors doing battle with the etoh and the measly 1% residual sugar. Weird and fun!

Opened on Christmas, but not consumed until the day after. This has a beautiful floral nose as you would expect from Viognier, but too sweet for more than a tiny pour.

Pale golden straw colored. Caution. Rather atypical. Amazing 33.5% initial sugar fermented down to 1% = 18% alcohol. While fascinating, mouth filling Viognier, this is really too hot to enjoy. Huge sweet camomile and sweet tree nut flavors that are over the top and unfortunately a bit too much to really enjoy. It's like drinking a bottle of great perfume.
Despite all that, this is fascinating, and I'd like to try it again, even though this has to be on a steep flaming decline. We're all allowed to make bad choices... Right?
