Enjoyed this bottle, my first experience with it and I found that it drank very much like an old-world wine - maybe could pass for a right bank bordeaux (merlot and cab franc dominated on the palate). Some green notes that I found enjoyable, and still some tannic structure - this was in a good spot now and I'd expect it to hold for some time as well.

Bart's. Candied dark red fruit, forest floor and Tootsie Roll. I believe this is a right bank blend--the CF shows more than the merlot at present. Smooth tannins. Excellent.

Served blind. Candied nose, with kirsch, red berries. Moderately tannic, with some green stemmy components. A nice wine; others liked it more than me. Quite a contrast to the warmer vintage 2013 opened later. I would never have associated the two.

Not surprisingly, paired quite well with steak and potatoes. Balanced and restrained. Muted black fruit, cigar tobacco, spice, and a bit of oak. Smooth tannins and a bit of acid to round things out. Medium finish.

Not as memorable but still solid, likely very close to its peak.
