    Tasting Notes:
The 2013 Pinot Gris has a light golden hue with youthful aromas of white peach, almond blossom, and guava. On the palate, this lighter-bodied wine matches refreshing acidity with pleasant flavors of honeydew melon, orange zest, and honeysuckle. Enjoy this youthful wine now, but it will continue to develop over the next 1-2 years.

    Vineyard Notes:
Our pinot gris is sourced solely from Hop Kiln Vineyard on Westside Road in the heart of the Russian River Valley. The block is located on the first bench above the river and is characterized by gravelly, well-drained soils. The slow-ripening 152 clone is planted in this block.

    Winemaker Notes:
With Landmark’s inaugural pinot gris, a combination of winemaking methods were employed. The lot was divided in two. One half was lightly whole-cluster pressed and fermented in cold stainless steel barrels to retain a fresh, floral component. The other half was destemmed into shallow MacroBins and boot-crushed. This juice remained in skin contact for about three hours, and was then pressed and fermented in neutral French oak for increased mouthfeel. After fermentation, the two lots were blended together and bottled. We are very pleased with the results.

    Food Pairing:
The 2013 Pinot Gris will pair well with lighter seafood dishes, such as grilled halibut or lobster rolls, sugar snap pea risotto, pasta salads and is a perfect complement to any summer picnic.
