Full disclosure that Virginia wines are not my favorite, but had this one since 2014 aging and thought it would be interesting to taste. Not bad, not great. Definitely get cherry, leather, and tobacco on the nose...a few swirls and more cherries to my nose. Long finish, a bit sharp to my palate. Out of all VA wines I've tasted Barboursville would be the only one I would drink. Buy hey, I'm a wine snob and know it.

Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of blueberries, plums and banana. Flavors of blueberries, plums and banana. Medium acidity, medium tannin, medium to full bodied. Drink now.

This bottle was singing tonight, so well balanced, plum, dark cherry, raspberry, tea, cinnamon, cloves, still plenty of life left, will drink well for a number of more years. Paired with cast iron seared filets, two bottles left.

Drinking very smooth right now. I tried one of these 2010s several years ago, and I thought some aging would tame some of the tannins. Well, it did, the wine is very approachable, and has some tertiary flavors coming forward. I liked this wine, but just not as much as I expected.

Great VA Box blend. Pencil lead, game and red fruit with tamed tannins meld so nicely.
