In my cellar since 2015. Decanted at 5:30pm and tasted from 8-11pm and again the next evening. The 2011 vintage was maligned by many pro’s. IR was certainly a difficult vintage in Napa… especially wet and relatively cool as I recall. It was hard to make a wine line the big modern jammy and over-ripe ones. Instead this was nicely balanced, bight with acidity and more red fruited that black. It was nicely complex and really enjoyable both alone and with food. There were secondary notes of cedar, tobacco and mint. There was a little mineral undertone and plum, pomegranate and cherry fruit. Like some other 2011’s I’ve had, this reminded me of the Napa Cabs of decades ago which I long for (and thankfully still have a bunch in the cellar). A positive surprise for my guests who are still learning about wine aging and the unreliability oof pro generalizations about wines and vintages. The next evening this was still attractive and layered.

Decated 3 hours, Dark Chocolate, vanilla, roasted marshmallow on the nose. Medium deep Garnet, lighter side of full bodied, spice, rich ripe fruit, salted Carmel, cacao. Little longer than a minute finish with excellent after taste wet rocks, caramel from a creme brulee, and hints of vanilla. Consumed with artichokes and lemon mayo.

For a 2011 it is drinking well with a long decant. (4+hours) My problem is that I had a 2013 TOR BTK last night. No comparison. This has tar and tobacco on the nose. Dark berries with a 30+ second finish. Very nice, but, there are much better for the tariff. (Carter...TOR)

Decanted 2 hours. A very I interesting combination of earth and fruit. I would wait a couple of years before the best one.
