Upon opening, it smells and tastes a bit funky. 30 minutes of air dealt with all that, leaving a light wine that begins with inoffensive berries, but then has an unexpectedly complex middle, and a long, fairly tannic, and slightly bitter end. I would drink this wine every week if I could get it.

Deep-rooted yet mid-size producer from the Drăgăşani area specializing in monovarietal wines that include some indigenous grapes. Negru de Drăgăşani is a cross of Negru Vartos and Babeasca Neagra. Grapes from the Bibescu and Foisor vineyards and aged in casks for a year before release. Medium purple in colour. Reductive nose with rubbery notes upfront followed by plum fruit. Soft and slender with a crisp mouth-feel getting bitter by the end.
