  • I bought a bottle almost by accident, without realising it’s rarity. I had tasted the wines only at expositions; this was my first full bottle. If you’re lucky enough to find one, you’ll enjoy an oxidative experience akin to Bereche’s Reflet d’Antan, the light smoke and earth of a cool climate trout, and the honey of my uncle Franchino. Drink it now or keep it forever to bring out some rich mellow tarte tatin. I hope for another.

  • Sobre 2010 is in fact a Brut Nature (as clearly displayed on the label depicted), but I will record it here anyway. Rarer than hen's teeth; word has it that only 200 bottles are produced in a given vintage. Disgorged 17 January 2019, 12% ABV. Purchased from the Dutch importer in 2021, stored in my dedicated (10C) Champagne fridge since then. The nose starts out very oxidative and roasted, burnt even. With some aeration, it freshens up considerably, and becomes vinous in style with white nuts, candied fruit and seawater; the palate is intensely flavoured and full-bodied but borderline austere, with huge minerally energy and steely acidity; long and salty, grapefruit finish. A wine that must be conquered - it reluctantly unravels its mysteries. On the second day it seems to have changed again, with ripe apples to the fore, and a "wild" character that I wouldn't exactly call funky, but it's earthy and spicy and honeyed, deep and untamed. The finish displays quite prominent bitters. Uncomppromising, so tightly coiled - an iron fist, but not necessarily in a velvet glove...

  • First time trying this wine. Quite exciting, but a bit too funky for me to fall in love with it.

Extras at Tasting of Selosse Lieux-Dits Collection (deg. 2013 & 2019) and some more at Møntergade (25/09/2021).
