A slightly gamy note makes this interesting to some people, like me, but it can be offputting for those who prefer a cleaner style of gamay. Nice acidity makes it a good food wine.

Served with pan-fried sockeye salmon in corn meal crust. Quite nice, mineral, earth, red fruit--especially raspberry, cherry, strawberry showing in a savory way in nose and palate. Balanced acid & tannin. A bit rounder than I recall from last bottle, with medium body. Perfect with the fish.

Oh so tasty! This wine seems to be misunderstood by the masses, according to the tasting notes I am reading. Black pepper spice and wet rocks and shale on the nose, slathered in strawberry and raspberry compote. After being opened about an hour, this gulpable Beujolais shows off flavors of tart red cherry fruit, rhubarb, slate, and spice notes. Delicious, smile, delicious, smile, repeat! This is too tasty, I will drink the whole bottle if I don't walk away. The refreshing acidity, the earthy notes and spice give nice complexity. The wine is well-balanced, and it is just plain fun. For the $18+ cost of admission, this is a ride I will keep getting on, over and over again! Case purchase for me in the future. Drink now through...now! And smile.

Earth (tea?) and pepper, more than fruit, and fruit that kicks in is more towards aged than fresh. A bit of cherry, currant, raspberry but not at all pronounced and not much in nose. Moderate acid. Interesting and good with food. Another bottle to try in a couple of months.

Interesting but too gamy--that aspect has gotten more pronounced over time.
