Still alive a kicking but likely starting to decline. Heavier than expected with baked red/blue fruit, cloves, toasted vanilla and slight earthy funk. Still tasty but comes off very stewed and lacking freshness with only a trace of acidity on the finish. Drink now.

13.5% alcohol. The extra two-and-a-half years did the trick. A beautiful, light Pinot. Moderate cherry color. Lovely nose of red and black cherry, ample earthiness, which I find is the Van der Kamp signature, and pretty floral notes. In the mouth, elegant, refined, and a building, compelling palate presence and finish. There was an understated aspect to the cherry fruit, floral notes, spice, and earth. A wine of calm and beauty -- much needed on the day of the Napa and Sonoma fires, which particularly hit this area of wine country. A-

Ruby color with a terrific nose of bright cranberry and cherry along with earth and sous bois. Bright flavors that matched the nose along with some bitterness and stemmy-ness from the mid-palate thru the finish. I would not be surprised if there was some whole cluster fermentation. Medium weight and with a slightly thin texture, a firm structure and plenty of grip. It did take on some weight after about 30 minutes, but remained surprisingly tight and sharp edged - more like a 2-3 year old wine than one that is 5+.

This was excellent. Earthy, cranberry, cherry, and nice balance. Long finish. In a great drinking window.

Medium bodied Pinot with plum, cherry, herb, and earth. Van der Kamp seems to always just miss the mark with me.
